The Parks Division is responsible for the management and maintenance of approximately 1,800 hectares (4,500 acres) of parks and open spaces. A wide range of facilities have been provided in these parks and open spaces catering for the broadest range of community interests. These include the provision of playing fields, playgrounds, golf courses, driving range and pitch and putt courses, tennis courts, athletic facilities, bowling green, all weather pitches, exercise trails, orienteering courses etc. For the less active, historic houses and associated demesnes, woodland and riverside walkways, floral displays, ornamental lakes and ponds, wild flower meadows and access to scenic views are among the facilities provided.
Local parks and environmental open spaces are maintained in housing areas throughout the county. The taking-in-charge and the basic and refined development of new open spaces continues on an annual basis.
The Parks Department provides professional advice on landscaping matters to other Departments in Fingal County Council and to local authorities outside Dublin.
A range of tree planting ceremonies are organised with the co-operation of local schools and the Tree Council of Ireland. The annual programme of tree and shrub planting, seasonal bedding and street tree planting and maintenance is carried out on an annual basis
