EPA 24 Hour Phone Line For Reporting Illegal Waste Activity
The EPA launched a confidential telephone service designed to encourage reporting of illegal dumping of waste or of abandoned illegal dumps on 28th June 2006. The phone line is at the centre-piece of a campaign called ‘Dump the Dumpers’. Where members of the public can report illegal dumping via a 24 hour lo-call telephone number 1850 365 121.Local authorities, the gardai and the EPA are following up on the information provided by the public, as appropriate.
The focus of the campaign is to identify large scale dumping sites that may still be operational or any remaining abandoned illegal dumps. The new phone service also allows members of the public to report fly-tipping.
The public can fight back for the environment and the members of the environmental enforcement would greatly welcome their assistance in doing so.
