Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations: Implications for Retailers

New Regulations were published on 6th July 2005 to promote the recovery of waste electrical and electronic equipment. These can be downloaded from the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government web site.

The Regulations impose obligations on persons who supply electrical ans electronic equipment to the Irish market, whether as retailers, importers or manufacturers.

How to register / re-register with Fingal County Council

Retailers must register / re-register for the year 2009 by completing the attached form. This form should be returned to Fingal County Council or European Recycling Platform (ERP). ERP is a compliance scheme under the WEEE Regulations operating in the Fingal area. A registration fee of €20 per premises may apply.  

If you are a retailer selling Electrical and Electronic Equipment and are already registered with Fingal County Council or European Recycling Platform under the WEEE Regulations you are deemed registered for the Battery Regulations.

Registration / re-registration for 2009 will cover both the WEEE and the Battery Regulations.
