What can you bring to your bring bank?
What you can bring depends on the type of containers on site.
Please dispose only of the items that go in the container and do not leave other materials or empty boxes at the side of the banks. This will only create litter and will put at risk the existence of the bottle banks through complaints from neighbouring residents or businesses.
Remember littering is an offence under the Litter Pollution Act and you could get a litter fine (€150) if caught littering.
Please do not use glass banks during the night as the noise could disturb neighbouring residents.
Glass banks: Dispose of glass bottles and jars, and segregate them by colour (this is important for the recycling process). No ceramics, no window glass, no pyrex cookware or drinking glasses (they are made of a different type of glass and would contaminate the load).
Can Banks: Dispose of drinking cans. Please crush the cans for optimum use of the banks. No food tins.
Textile Bank: Bring clothes in good condition. No duvets / pillows.
What should you do with your cardboard boxes?
Please do not leave empty boxes behind as they are littering the area and create troubles. You should bring your empty cardboard boxes home, tear them apart and put them in your green bin. If you don’t have a green bin, bring them to your nearest recycling centre.
Who shall use the bring banks?
The bring banks are provided for the use of households only and Businesses shall not use them.
What should you do if the bring bank is full?
The bring bank should always be serviced before they get full. However if the bring bank is full when you get to it, please do not leave your recyclable next to the bank as they would create litter.
If you find a bank full, please contact us at 01-8905604 so that we can arrange for the banks to be emptied.
Do you have locations to suggest for new bring banks?
We are continuously looking for additional locations for bottle banks. The criteria that have to be met by the proposed sites are the following:
- Total clearance of overhead cables
- Access for servicing truck (large truck with trailer)
- Accessibility by Public
- Absence (as much as possible) of direct neighbours
- Agreement from owner of land
If you have a suggestion for a site for bring bank, please contact David at 01-8905604.
