Loan Arrears Section

The Loan Arrears Section is responsible for preventing, monitoring and collecting arrears on all Council issued loans. It is our policy to identify loan accounts that are falling into arrears as quickly as possible, through monitoring and early intervention. We also make contact with all borrowers who fall into payment difficulties to help them address the problem immediately rather than letting the arrears build up.

The Loan Arrears Section will contact the borrowers and offer support and guidance on how to address the arrears. This will involve liaising with outside agencies such as Money Advice Budgeting Services (MABS), Community Welfare Officers, Social Welfare and Citizens Advice and referrals to the Council’s Housing Welfare Officer.
