Temporary Road Closures

The Transportation Department deals with applications for temporary road closures to facilitate: -

The carrying out of road works.

The holding of a road race or other event.

To ensure that Fingal County Council can process the application satisfactorily applications should be made 6 weeks prior to the temporary road closure.   The application should include:

Letter of application with contact numbers, 

Name of road to be closed

Nature of works to be carried out 

Time and dates of proposed closure

Map indicating the section of road which will be affected by the works

Alternative routes available and diversions that will be in place

Public Liability Insurance applicable for road races only

Fee as follows:

€1,000  2 days or less

€2,000  3 - 7 days inclusive

€5,000  7 - 28 days inclusive

€7,000  >28 days

A charge of €200 per day applies where a closure exceeds the number of days applied for.
A fee does not apply to road races.

Costs associated with advertising the proposed and ordered closure in the local press will also be borne by the applicant. These costs vary with each closure application.
