Drinking Water Quality
Fingal County Council Water Services Department is responsible for the delivery of a high quality drinking water supply to approximately 90,000 households and non-domestic properties in the County. In addition the Council provides drinking water to the same number of premises in Dublin City, South Dublin, Meath and Kildare.
The Council has two treatment facilities at Leixlip and Bog of the Ring which produce a maximum output of 168 million litres and 3 million litres of treated drinking water each day, respectively. Water is tested regularly at all stages of the treatment process and throughout the distribution system to ensure compliance with European and National drinking water standards.
Dublin City Council's Central Laboratory carries out testing of drinking water provided to the citizens of the County and provides results on a monthly basis. The detailed report below is the first of what will be an ongoing update on the quality of drinking water in Fingal. The Analysis reports are broken into two sections the first relating to the treatment plants operated by Fingal County Council the second relating to the distribution network.
In accordance with our standards of service our aim is to provide a high quality water supply which conforms 100 % to the parametric standards set in the European Communities (Drinking Water) (No.2) Regulations, 2007 (S.I. 278 of 2007). In order to meet these standards we rely on monitoring by the Central Laboratory and information relayed by our customers. Where we fail to meet these standards we will identify a programme of action to be carried out so that we return to compliance with the standard.
