Fats, Oils & Grease (FOGs Licensing Programme)
Fats, Oils and Grease (FOGs) entering the foul sewer network from Food Service Establishments (FSE’s) is causing extensive infrastructural problems culminating in plant shutdown, blocked pipes, sewer overflows and pollution all at a huge cost to Fingal County Council Water Services Section.
The FOGs programme is being implemented in Fingal County Council in order to control the discharge of FOGs in to the foul sewer network from Food Service Establishments and to promote best practice in relation to grease management with a view to protecting the wastewater infrastructure and general water quality in Fingal.
The regulation of FOG will be achieved through a streamlined trade effluent licensing system that will monitor the Fats, Oils, Grease and Phosphates that are released into the foul network by the FSE via a properly sized and maintained greasetrap.
