Fingal’s Waste Water Treatment Plants
Fingal currently runs three main waste water treatment works (WWTW). Two of which have recently been refurbished and expanded. The Swords WWTW was recently completed and now has the capacity to treat up to a population equivalent (PE) of 60,000. The second plant to be upgraded was the Malahide WWTW which, has a 20,000 PE Capacity.
These projects formed part of the National Development Plan and have received funding from the EU Cohesion Fund. (See www.ndp.ie and www.csfino.com for further information). The completion of these projects will ensure compliance with the Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive and help improve and sustain the quality of our coastal waters for some time to come.
